How ColorQuarry handles your image and your data.
ColorQuarry is free, anonymous, and account-free. This page explains exactly what happens to an uploaded image and the data generated from it.
What happens to an uploaded image
When you choose an image and select Extract palette, the image is sent to ColorQuarry's dedicated Product API and processed by the Palette Engine to generate a color palette. The uploaded image is held only for the duration of that processing and is not written to a database or added to permanent storage. The palette values, accessibility guidance, and downloadable export files generated from the image are kept temporarily so you can review and download them, and expire automatically after about 10 minutes. The branded Palette PNG shown on the result screen is drawn in your own browser from the image you selected; it is never uploaded anywhere beyond the extraction request itself.
What ColorQuarry does not do
- No accounts, sign-in, or saved projects exist. There is nothing tied to your identity to save.
- Uploaded images are not retained, reused, or added to any training, marketing, or analytics dataset.
- ColorQuarry does not sell personal data, run advertising, or include third-party analytics or tracking scripts.
- Generated results and files are deleted automatically once their short availability window ends.
Anonymous abuse protection
To keep the free service usable for everyone, ColorQuarry applies request-rate limits to anonymous traffic. This works by deriving a one-way hashed identifier from request signals such as your network address; the identifier cannot be reversed back into that address, is not linked to an account or profile, and is used only to enforce the extraction rate limits described in our operational documentation. It is retained for a bounded period and then deleted.
Infrastructure providers
ColorQuarry runs on third-party hosting, network, and storage infrastructure to operate the site and API. Those providers process requests on ColorQuarry's behalf and may keep their own standard technical logs (for example, connection and request metadata) under their own operational practices. ColorQuarry does not share uploaded images or generated results with any provider beyond what is required to process and temporarily store that one request.
